Hilti Group decides to join the SBTI initiative

HILTI GROUP DECIDES TO JOIN THE Science Based Targets initiative (SBTI) AND INVEST IN SUSTAINABILITY

Schaan (Liechtenstein), January 12, 2023 — In accordance with the objectives of the Paris Agreement, Hilti Group decides to support the Science-Based Goals Initiative (SBTi). Since sustainability is a key element of the company's corporate strategy, Hilti plans to make additional efforts to reduce carbon emissions at all stages of its value chain.

This step is related to emissions unrelated to Hilti's own production operations and is aimed at accelerating the transition of the company's partners to zero emissions, as well as supporting customers along the way. To bring SBTi to life, Hilti invests millions of Swiss francs to implement systematic changes in its own business processes and further support the company's partners in this direction.

Construction is the most resource—intensive industry, producing about 40% of the world's carbon footprint. SBTi allows enterprises to set ambitious CO2 reduction targets, encouraging companies around the world to minimize their carbon footprint by 2030 and achieve zero emissions by 2050. SBTi is a partnership of the international Carbon Reduction Project and the UN Global Compact with the World Resources Institute and the World Wide Fund for Nature.

In 2023 Hilti plans to achieve zero CO2 emissions as part of its own activities

"In addition to our commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2023, we are also committed to reducing emissions outside of our own operations. Following science-based goals, we plan to reduce emissions at all stages of our supply chain, as well as support our partners' initiatives in the field of sustainable development, which will allow us to contribute to the much—needed transformation of our industry," comments Yaangir Dungji, CEO of Hilti Group.

Having committed to participating in the SBTi initiative, Hilti plans to develop and approve appropriate goals for verification and elaboration in the next two-year period
